Why to buy: If you're a French wine lover who wants to go domestic (but wants to avoid a high-alcohol fruit bomb), here's your bottle. Inspired by the wines of Pomerol, the smallest wine producing region in Bordeaux, Blackbird vineyards crafted this French-style blend from their estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll district and with renowned grape growing partners throughout the Napa Valley.

Nose, palate and pairing: The 2009 growing season allowed the grapes optimal hang time, resulting in a bright, balanced wine with layers of fruit. After 21 months in French Oak “Arise” is ready for release, but will gracefully age another decade. Drink now with roasted chicken, herby peewee potatoes and kale salad with a mustardy vinaigrette.
