This stunning “Vigna Merenda” from Scarzello is the reason we drink Barolo: elegant and nuanced but powerful. It’s the essence of the Nebbiolo grape. The winemaker Federico Scarzello won the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award for this wine almost 12 years ago, and his efforts continue to be rewarded with rave reviews. This small 12 acre winery is located in the heart of Barolo. Family-operated for three generations, the current winemaker and enologist is Federico Scarzello. Federico continues to improve the quality of the wines using mostly traditional cultivation and winemaking techniques. His 1999 Barolo ‘Vigna Merenda’ won the Tre Bicchieri award.

We Love This With
