Inspired by her mother's handed-down knowledge of pressing cocoa elixir into chocolate, Honduras-born Maribel Lieberman set out to create MarieBelle Chocolates over a decade ago.

Why We Love It

When Maribel Lieberman opened her business in 2000, her husband, Jacques, designed the colorful, abstract cocoa-butter silkscreens that adorn her chocolates. Today, Maribel concocts a variety of desserts. From sweet Meyer Lemon fruit preserves to her crunchy chocolate sticks and addicting toffee. The chocolates pair wonderfully with coffee, of course. But the earthier flavors—espresso, pistachio, and hazelnut—are magical with rich, red wines or bubbly sweet reds such as Northern Italy's Brachetto D'Acqua.
