Made and named for chef Ana Sortun, each component in this complex blend—tangy sumac, fragrant rose petals and toasted sesame seeds—is perfectly balanced. Sortun uses it on everything from duck (one of our favorite ways) to rice dishes to chicken and to vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes and squash.

In 2006, Israeli born Lior Sercarz ended his career working in top kitchens to open La Boîte à Epice. He crafts unique spice blends inspired by his culinary adventures for the country's best chefs from Paul Liebrandt to Daniel Boulud (his former employer).
