Tzurit Or learned her craft in her native Israel. Inspired by her mother, Tzurit started baking out of her home kitchen when she first moved to America. After discovering that her handmade cookies, cakes, and tarts were extremely popular at Boston farmer’s markets Tzurit expanded her business and now touts Oprah as one of her clients.

Essence of Generations

Tatte’s bakery has only been around since 2008, but it is chock-full of history. Baker Tzurit Or, who grew up baking from scratch with her mother, uses recipes that have been in her family for years. Many of her recipes, such as her meringues, are inspired by pastries tasted on her travels in Europe, or are born out of a surplus of a certain product or “mistakes” she turns into successes in the kitchen. She is passing the legacy on to her own six-year-old daughter, who helps her bake at home, and from whose mispronunciation of the Hebrew word for “grandma” comes the name of the bakery itself.
