Each of these cheeses won an award in 2011 from the American Cheese Society. This robust and fun assortment from Beehive Cheese is as uncommon as it is memorable. You get Promontory, a buttery Irish cheddar with a touch of citrusy tang, which is also the base for the cayenne-spiced Big John’s Cajun Rub. SeaHive is a semi-firm number coated in local wildflower honey and mineral-flecked salt from an ancient seabed. Unique Barely Buzzed is coated in finely ground Latin American and Indonesian coffee and lavender buds.

Six years ago, childhood friends (and now brothers-in-law) Tim Welsh and Pat Ford ditched their careers in software and real estate to start Beehive Cheese, one of the few artisan cheesemakers in Utah, specializing in first-rate artisan cheeses made from the milk of Jersey cows grazing near the Great Salt Lake.
