Why We Love It

When Maribel Lieberman opened her business in 2000, her husband, Jacques, designed the colorful, abstract cocoa-butter silkscreens that adorn her chocolates. Today, the Brooklyn-made treats sport such whimsical designs as willowy figures dancing (mango), a bubble bath (Champagne) and sky diving (cinnamon). "It's whatever feeling the flavor brings to me," says Lieberman. This set of 16 chocolate ganache candies might include any combination of 32 flavors. They all pair wonderfully with coffee, of course. But the earthier flavors—espresso, cardamom and buckwheat—are magical with rich, red wines or bubbly sweet reds.
