Among kitchen alchemists like Ferran Adrià, Wylie Dufresne (WD-50), and Corey Lee (The French Laundry and Benu), Le Sanctuaire's wildly inventive Jing Tio is muse, collaborator, and fellow magician. Tio's ingenious finds—exotic spices, esoteric cookbooks, and outrageous tools—have made him a connoisseur with a distinctly culinary cult following.

The White Stuff

Hering-Berlin was born in a little Berlin atelier in 1992. Today, founder and artisan Stefanie Hering sells her stunning white porcelain objects d’art (everything from charger plates and chandeliers to gooseneck teapots and traditional Chinese figurines) in 21 countries and showcases them in nine museums. Hering’s oeuvre is all “bisque” porcelain, an unglazed ceramic popularized by French doll-makers in the mid-1700s. There’s nothing china-doll about these solid, non-porous, dishwasher-safe pieces, though. No wonder Per Se, Charlie Trotter’s and Blue Hill at Stone Barns all choose to serve on them.
