Salt Lake City native Ron Silver baked his first pie for a competition at the New York State Fair. Though he didn’t win, he pressed on with his passion for pie-making and in 1990, Ron opened up Bubby’s, one of New York City’s most beloved stops for a little slice of heaven.

Migliorelli's Apples

Bubby’s founder Ron Silver whisks whiskey along with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, lemon, sugar and sea salt into this apple pie to give it unique, not-your-grandma’s-pie flavors. We love that the apple varieties in the pie change with the season. Expect to see the white flesh of Macoun and Cortland apples in early fall. By late autumn, you’ll taste the sweet and sour of Jonagolds and tart Granny Smith apples. Migliorelli Farm, where Silver sources the apples from, is located in New York’s Hudson Valley. The family farm has pass been growing over 130 different fruits and vegetables for three generations.
