While most teas are dried, fired or rolled, this is what tea actually tastes like with no human intervention. Virgin Silver Buds is a white tea, made from the tiny shoots that appear on the tea tree each spring. It is only harvested if the rainfall has been just right and there is a sunny day after picking so the tea can be air-dried. Sometimes called the "Champagne of teas," its flavor is subtle, like sweet rainwater with a touch of amaretto.

Why We Love It

Like many of Five Mountains' teas, Virgin Silver Buds come from the famed Lan'Xang River Valley, a virgin rainforest where tea masters have harvested for as long as 4,000 years. To brew the perfect cup, be aware of the three "Ts:" (water) temperature, (steeping) time and total (amount). Steep one to two teaspoons of Virgin Silver Buds with eight ounces of 180-degree water for about seven minutes. The tea is certified organic in the United States as well as the far-stricter European Union and Japan.
