Why We Love It

Elizabeth Madden, the founder of Rare Bird Preserves sources fresh, seasonal and when possible, local and sustainably harvested ingredients to make her preserves.  Often, the peaches, raspberries and apples arrive at Rare Bird’s cozy kitchen still warm from the sun, picked only hours earlier.   These preserves are great because we’ve found so many ways to enjoy them—simply spread on toast or mixed with mascarpone for building a fun and fruity tiramisu.  Although we love all of Rare Bird’s unique flavors, right now we can’t get enough of the meyer lemon curd, velvety and sweet, swirled into Greek yogurt, glazed on grilled chicken or whisked into vinaigrette.
