New Jersey’s Mosefund Farm, located along the Appalachian trail, has been raising the hogs since 2007, the year when Hungary’s Mangalitsa pigs were brought to the United States. Mosefund lets their pigs roam free over 15 acres of their New Jersey farm for most of their lives. Mangalitsa is some of the best meat we’ve ever eaten, and it shines in this breakfast brat. Don’t let this sausage’s moniker fool you; it’s a great addition to dinner dishes too. Try removing the meat from the casing and browning it in a hot pan. Add the golden bits to a Bolognese, a pot of steamy mussels or even your grandma’s Sloppy Joe recipe for subtly sweet flavor.
