Jean Arnold, the San Francisco–based, Le Cordon Bleu–trained artisan behind 479 Popcorn, began making her own organic popcorn and flavoring it with exotic seasonings inspired by her international upbringing. In the process, she discovered that 479˚Fahrenheit is the optimal temperature for popping corn.

479 degrees Farenheit

Jean Arnold, the founder of 479 Popcorn, discovered popcorn pops perfectly, with optimal expansion and fluff, at 479 degrees Fahrenheit. To maintain the perfect pop, 479 pops their heirloom, organic kernels in small batches using copper pots. Immediately after popping, the warm popcorn is coated in sweet, buttery caramel and dusted with Fleur de Sel, a sea salt harvested by hand from evaporation ponds on the coast of Brittany, France. Unlike run-of-the-mill factory salt, these natural flakes are delicate like snowflakes and salty like the sea.
