- 1 dozen live, in-the-shell Hama Hama oysters
- 1 dozen live, in-the-shell Blue Pool oysters
In 1922, Harry and Helena Robbins founded Hama Hama, a logging company named for the river that flowed through their property in Lilliwaup, Washington. In the 1950s, the family began hand harvesting oysters from the river delta and drove their bounty to Seattle to sell to restaurants, creating one of the first markets for oysters on the half shell.
These oysters will be shipped overnight and packed in an insulated box with coolant.
Why We Love It
The Blue Pool oysters are seeded in bags that rise and fall with the tide, rolling the oysters around, shaping their shells to have a deep cup, perfect for holding their briny liquor. The Extra Small Hama Hamas come from the mouth of the Hama Hama River where fresh river water meets the salt water of the Hood Canal. The cold temperature of the Hama Hama River allows us to enjoy these two oysters from September to June. We love savoring these two oysters side-by-side to compare the flavor and shape of the beach grown Hama Hama with that of the Blue Pool which is tumbled in deeper, saltier water.
