Hama Hama Pacific Northwest

In 1922, Harry and Helena Robbins founded Hama Hama, a logging company named for the river that flowed through their property in Lilliwaup, Washington. In the 1950s, the family began hand harvesting oysters from the river delta and drove their bounty to Seattle to sell to restaurants, creating one of the first markets for oysters on the half shell.

Why We Love It

Blue Pool oysters are seeded in bags which rise and fall with the tide. The tidal movements roll the oysters around, naturally shaping their shells to have a deep cup and flat top. Hama Hama's tumble farm is on a deep tideland located far from the mouth of the river, allowing these oysters to develop clean flavors of the Hama Hama River water, but with a more robust, ocean brine.
