Characteristics: Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar awarded the Villa de Corullón 2010 92 points for its “pungent, youthful aromas of dark berry preserves, cherry-cola and candied violet with a mineral topnote… silky tannins give shape and grip to a long, penetrating finish.” Wine Spectator was a fan of the Pétalos del Bierzo 2010, giving it 91 points for its “black cherry, licorice, mineral and smoke flavors… supported by well-integrated tannins and firm acidity.” Both are flexible enough to be welcome at a feast; they pair with almost anything on the holiday table.
