Why to buy: This limited edition South African vintage benefited from a hot summer and a wet winter, resulting in a grape brimming with fruit and spice. It is a wonderful red fit for a fine, meaty meal.
Characteristics: Inky garnet in hue, with a touch of brick, this is an intense, complex wine with a nose of black currant, mint, and spice. Its palate is full and rich, mirroring the bouquet with flavors of cassis and spice, cedar and even eucalyptus. Fine, velvety tannins and a fresh finish make this a beautiful partner for a hearty meal of osso buco, grilled steak with red wine sauce, bone marrow, or even steak frites.
