Characteristics: Carefully selected grapes are aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. The result is an extraordinary wine—as food-friendly as all great Tuscans are—that is heady with black cherry, blackberry and spice giving way to blackcurrant, dark chocolate, mint and fruit. Lightly minerally, with just enough acidity, these tannins are big and round, with a wonderful lingering finish. Tuscan wines are at the very heart of the Italian lifestyle, and this extraordinary wine is no exception.
