This family owned estate put Gavi back on the map after a rigorous overhaul which involved drastically reducing their yields, hiring Piemonte specialist Beppe Caviola as consulting oenologist and renovating their cellar. Today they are recognized as the preeminent Gavi producer with a stunning hotel and restaurant.

We Love This With

La Maialina has a deep appreciation for pork (their name was inspired by an heirloom Tuscan breed), so we’re taking a cue from the winemaker and pairing this lush, round Chianti Classico Riserva with Becker Lane’s organic shoulder roast. The roast comes from Berkshire pigs raised in open pastures on all-natural feed. The flavors in the sweet, well-marbled meat are a great match for the cherry, raspberry and peppery layers in this wine.
