Tuscan table wine never tasted so good! It makes sense though because this is the house wine from a stellar Brunello producer. When you need a great bottle that over-delivers on every level, this should be your go-to vino.
- Jeffrey Meisel, Gilt Taste Wine Director

Why to buy: It may be classified as table wine but the Rosso del Palazzone has the pedigree of a world-class Brunello (and, at a fraction of the price).

Nose, palate and pairing: Ruby red in color with aromas of cherries, violets and hints of forest floor, this wine is bright and fresh with layers of red fruit, leather, soil and spice on the palate. It’s a dream with almost everything from minestrone to cheese to pasta to roasted chicken.

Backstory: Every year, Il Palazzone blends the small quantities of left-over wine—from the same grapes that produce their top-flight Brunello di Montalcino—to make this Vino Rosso. Sometimes referred to as “baby” Brunello, all of the wines in this blend spend over a year in large oak barrels.

Varietals: 100% Sangiovese
Alcohol:13.5%
Appellation: Vino da Tavola, Montalcino, Tuscany

Wines from this estate are known for their elegance and austerity; they are wines to both enjoy and collect. The founder, Richard Parsons, comes to the estate every harvest and works closely with his winemaker, Paolo Vagaggini to produce 8,000 to 12,000 bottles of Brunello each year.

We Love This With

Weeknight pasta dinners beg for this wine. It’s great with bright tomato sauces, unctuous Mediterranean flavors, or raviolis filled with rich and creamy cheeses. If you don’t feel like cooking, whip out a cheese and charcuterie platter. Nuts, funky cheeses, salty salami—it all compliments this earthy, Tuscan wine.
