Why you should buy:Made by one of the most esteemed producers in France, Pierre Chainier, this hard-to-find Muscadet is truly a fantastic buy.

Nose, palate and pairing: Rich aromas of white flowers and citrus fruit are followed by a bright and dry palate with green apple and citrus. Lively and dry with a beguiling bouquet this wine is memorable with oysters and shellfish. It’s also our go-to wine for spicy cuisines like Indian or Szechuan.

The backstory: This Muscadet carries the AOC of Sèvre-et-Maine, an appellation on the western edge of the Loire Valley near the mouth of the Atlantic which designates the highest quality and purest expression of Muscadet.

Pierre Chainier Sèvre-et-Maine, France

Pierre Chainier comes from a long line of winemakers: his ancestors were producing wines in Bordeaux as early as the 18th-century. Today, Chanier owns four Chateaux in France but his headquarters are in Amboise, on the banks for the Loire River. There, he makes Touraine wines from select growers around the region.

We Love This With

On the Atlantic coast of France, where this wine is grown and made, Muscadet is often served with shellfish.  Shrimp or mussels are a fine match for this wine but it's also a great wine to entertain with as it fits in at happy hour alongside a pungent blue cheese.  Murray's Blu di Bufala is made from Buffalo milk; it’s milder than other blues, creamy and seductive.
