Why you should buy: For the price, our tasting panel agreed this bottle is truly a remarkable find. It’s a unique blend from a highly acclaimed, artisan winery on the Tuscan Coast.

Nose, palate and pairing: The aromatics feature blueberry and blackberry layered with gentle spices. Medium-bodied and balanced, it is a true crowd pleaser; there’s enough fruit and acidity to satisfy those who love Old World wines, but oenophiles seeking ripe fruit and a long, refreshing finish will be just as satisfied. We love this wine with dishes that have nutty flavor like a fresh green salad with toasted almonds, a pistachio-crusted filet of fish, or even a chicken stir fry finished with salty cashews.

Eugenio Campolmi acquired his first vineyard in 1975. While his neighbors were designing the first generation of Super Tuscans, Campolmi devoted himself to coaxing the sublimest expressions from single varietals of Bordeaux. His widow Cinzia Merli and oenologist Luca D’Attoma continue to craft some of Italy’s most important wines.
